Life’s little messages

I read my horoscope from time to time on Facebook, and although I don’t believe in that stuff, I still find myself enthralled with the feature. Why? I think it’s because the typical point of these messages is to bring about more self awareness. I’m all about self-awareness, hence my involvement in the personal development industry. It is too often, though, that I overlook the little messages I get in everyday life – whether from fortune cookies, horoscopes, daily calendar reminders, quote apps on my phone, or whatever it may be. Sometimes I need to be slapped across the face with a billboard that says something about ‘waking up’ to LIFE… I’m sure there are many of you out there that are concentrating on self-awareness as well, yet repeatedly find yourself floating through the haze of everyday activities. I have no solution for this except to keep practicing self-awareness. Habits and practices are not easy to develop and they take time, commitment, and COMPASSION for one’s self. I want to share with you all the horoscope I received today just before I spoke with my own personal coach:

“Fate has once again thrown you a couple of unexpected curves and you find yourself in a completely different situation from the one you had planned to be in. Don’t take it too hard. If you were able to plan everything, then many of life’s unexpected pleasures would never occur. So don’t get distressed but be alert to the hidden treasures of life, making sure they don’t slip by and become overlooked completely.”

‘Be alert to the hidden treasures of life’ struck me the most and I am going to try to carry this message with me this week. What message will you carry with you this week? How will you use this message to aid in your own practices of self-awareness?
